I’m currently writing this as of the 4th of Feb 2019 after having just returned from Fitness street in December 2018
If you are looking for a fitness vacation hot spot then listen up. The place I am about to give you insight into will blow your freaking mind.
Imagine waking up in the morning and doing a morning Yoga class in warm Thailand air at 6.30 in the morning.
Followed by doing either a strength & conditioning class or a Muay Thai class for 1–2 hours. During that class, you meet 5 people that share the same values for health and fitness as you, and are from Morocco, New York, Spain, England, and India.

After that beginner MMA class (where I got pummeled by the Austrian guy on my left,) you all head down the street to any number of protein shake huts where you decide to surrender 60 baht for a 24 gram whey protein shake.
Choose your flavour with either milk or water. Voila!
I kid you not. This is what these little bamboo huts look like.
As you all walk down Soi Taied street, these protein huts will look like this.
You’ll suck down your protein shake and then socialise with your new friends for the next 1–2 hours until your next fitness or martial arts class.
What is so cool about Soi Taied street in Phuket is that it caters for the elite athlete that is training for a big MMA or muay thai competition. Right down to someone at the beginning of their fitness journey.
Most of the eateries along Soi Taied cater for the calorie conscious athlete with most menus specifying their calorie content and macronutrient breakdown.
And don’t be put off by the simplicity of the menus here which look like a tribe of snails have marched across the front page.
As they serve some of the freshest and “cleanest” calorie food you can imagine. Many champion athletes that travel from all around the world to train on Soi Taied will eat at these places.
Don’t judge the food by the cover of the menu. This is what it actually looks like.
Grilled chicken with steamed vegetables was my staple. Oh, throw in a fresh coconut, thanks!
Trust me. The food is phenomenal for a place like Thailand.
There are a number of training centres, gyms, supplement stores, vegan cafes, eateries, and protein shake bars that litter Soi Taied street.
If you are wanting to rock your strength and conditioning socks off, then a number of training centres cater for CrossFitters and the like.
And don’t worry, Soi Taied has your recovery needs sorted out. After you’ve torn your muscle fibres to shreds in your CrossFit class, or survived the beginner muay thai class, why not head down to the Flotation Tank or Frozen Room.
Sunday Rest Day
So everything on Soi Taied closes on Sunday. Thank god for that.
What is really cool about the location of Soi Taied in Phuket is that it is super close to the Koh Phi Phi ferry terminal.
This means you can jump on a ferry and relax your torn muscles on the beaches of Koh Phi Phi.
Or alternatively, you can indulge in a traditional Thai massage for no more than 400 baht ($16 AUD)
So if you are looking for that ultimate fitness vacation. Forget about Bali. Book your next fitness vacation to Phuket, book 2 weeks accommodation on Soi Taied, and be prepared to meet fitness buddies for life.
Your life will never be the same again.
I’ve met people that are on their second, third, and fourth fitness vacation on Soi Taied. I met someone who knew of a girl that cries every time she is about to leave Soi Taied… and she’s been here seven times!
