I discuss how I was once sugar addicted and loved donuts. How it is essential that, as an aspiring or real entrepreneur, your body becomes the most important enterprise.

And I know this sounds all rah-rah. But I give the brutal reality of what it will cost you if you fail to reconcile your physique as the enterprise that your life (i.e., relationships, etc) is predicated upon.

Developing a strong foundation of fitness as an entrepreneur is a mindset shift. There is no nutritional and training strategies that are any different to someone who works under the reigns of a CEO.

Hi everybody. Welcome back. Brad from SeekFitlife.com. I am super pumped. It is 7:30 PM. It is the 22nd of April, 2017. I’m getting ready for my fitness model competition, The World Stage, The World Titles in June 2017. My very next competition is literally 15 days away. I have the physique and I’m currently working toward that as my very next goal. I wanted to talk about something very specific to the entrepreneurs/aspiring entrepreneurs out there, which are looking at some kind of fitness so that they can somehow transform their lives.

For myself, I am an aspiring entrepreneur. Currently, I work a corporate job. I am training and I film and build my thing on the side, which is building online and credit online courses to help people lose fat, build muscle, and have the body that they want. It’s doing quite well. I have a number of free courses, I have a number of paid courses, and I’m constantly building and expanding my network of people that I’m helping, via Snapchat, via Instagram DM, via [inaudible 00:01:20], via Skill Share, you name it. Eleven courses, that’s my full story right there. I know what it’s like to be an aspiring entrepreneur.

Now, give you context. I was somebody that was sick all the time. I was miserable. I was in and out of hospital all the time, all the time. Back in the day, five plus years ago, I was running a business with my ex girlfriend, it was stressful. It ultimately killed our relationship. I was also studying to be a pilot, I was also working a corporate job, I also had my own projects. I had no fucking social life, I didn’t care about fitness, I didn’t care about my health, I ate rubbish food all the time, I had donuts because I had a fucking donut addiction. I’m not kidding you, I loved donuts a lot, a lot, a lot. Especially, when Coles, which is our supermarket here in Australia, would mark them down to 99 cents at about 10:30 at night. That was a bargain. When it got down to 47 cents, that was a real bargain. But, that wasn’t until 11:00, 11:30 at night. I knew, when it said, “Still fresh,” on the label, no problems man, I’d have all these wiped out by midnight. I’m not kidding you, serious, I’m actually dead serious. I did love donuts a little bit too much, I had them every second day.

On top of that, junk food, lollies, sweets, I had chocolate, I had everything that had sugar in it that was not good for me. The problem is, I had it all the time, all the time, almost every day. I was sick all the time. Plus, dealing with all of that, building a business, dealing with my relationship that was breaking down because I didn’t devote enough time to it because I had all these other things going on. Did I care about health and fitness back then? No, I didn’t care at all. I tried, I failed. I tried different programmes. You know that full story if you’ve listened to me enough. I didn’t care. After a while, I thought it was my genetics. I didn’t give a shit. I just wanted to work on the business and build that up. That cost me, dearly. I was in and out of hospital my early 20’s. The doctor said, “Brad, if you do not change your ways, your longevity is going to be put into question.” Guys, I was in my early fucking 20’s. I was skinny, fat, I was out of shape, I was sick. Can you believe that?

I still didn’t care. That wasn’t even the tipping point. Being put in a fucking isolation chamber where doctors were dressed up in outfits like space suits, to come and see me to do a fucking chest X-ray on me to find out what was going wrong with me. “Oh, maybe his lung collapsed, maybe he had pneumonia, maybe it was all these … whatever.” All these different theories got chucked around. I give you that backstory because that’s what it will cost you if you continue to put your health and fitness on the back burner.

Now, I understand that there’s some motivation here for you to transform your fitness and your health, because you wouldn’t be listening to me in the first place. That you are some kind of aspiring entrepreneur dude or woman out there. You’re just getting into this game of maybe quitting your full time job and then doing it full time. You are concerned about your health and you want to know how to do it. You want fitness, you want health. But it’s like, “I don’t have time, Brad, because I’m doing all these projects for my business and my enterprise.” I get it.

Right now, I’m shooting this. I’m a fitness model competitor. I’m at the peak of my fitness, I’m at the peak of my energy levels. It is 7:30 on a Saturday night, I’ve been cranking since quarter past five this morning. Five years ago, I couldn’t even get out of fucking bed at nine o’clock in the morning. There’s no way I’d be cranking past six o’clock at night. That’s the truth. I’ve completely turned my situation around and I’m working harder now than what I did back then. I still work a corporate job, I actually work the same one. I am actually an aspiring entrepreneur, I am going to be quitting my job very soon, so I can do this full time and I can send this message out to the world, full time. And I’m training as well.

Now, let’s get into the specifics of it. “Brad, what do I do to get fit as an entrepreneur?” Now, I get it, you’re busy, you have projects, it’s a priority, you’re in the flow. You go for six hours without even thinking about eating. You can skip meals because you’re so engrossed in what you’re doing. Let me put it to you this way, in terms of actual training, like what do you need to do to train, is there any specific training programmes for entrepreneurs? Nope. What about nutrition? Do you have to eat differently? Nope. You just remember to eat would be a good start. There’s nothing different with nutrition, there’s nothing different with training. So, what is different then? It’s a mindset shift, it’s a mentality shift. Let me get clear on this. When I say mentality shift right now, I’m probably mostly correct ’cause I know from my previous experience of having fucked this up completely, that I put my health and fitness on the back burner. That dealing with contractors, dealing with graphic designers, dealing with film crew, dealing with all the projects and running, building websites, that shit was all a priority. P1 over and above going to the gym and training for an hour a day, or spending 15 minutes figuring out how much protein my body needs.

It’s a matter of priorities, it’s a matter of a mindset shift. I’ll put it to you this way, because I can rant and rave, I can rant and rave all night and you can sit there or stand there, listen to me or watch me and go, “Brad, that’s all nice, that’s all very nice, priority shift, I get it, I get it. But, how do I make that shift in my mind? How do I make that shift in my mind where I make fitness a priority? How do I do it?” Good question. See, like this.

I like to think of your body like a Lamborghini. I like to think of your body like a Lamborghini, if you treat your Lamborghini, your body, if you put in, for example lawnmower fuel, put in lawnmower fuel in your physique, if you feed your body with rubbish, then your Lamborghini becomes a Corolla ’87. If you do not treat your body right, it’s going to treat you terribly, it’s going to treat you like shit. You’re not going to have the energy, you’re not going to have the body you want. This is it, what you need to do is very, very clear. You must think of your body as the foundation of your business and your enterprise, hundred percent. I’m telling you right now, if I didn’t train today, I wouldn’t be doing this right now. I would not be doing this right now, I would not be speaking with this mic and this camera and I wouldn’t be working at eight o’clock at night or I would not be doing it, because I haven’t built that foundation to make this possible.

You must look at your health and your fitness as the foundation of not just your fucking business but of your enterprise. Now, if you don’t have the foundation of health and fitness in your life, not just your business, you don’t have a fucking life. That is it. You don’t have a relationship because what happened with me, I didn’t have the energy for a relationship because I was so fucking tired waking up and 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 in the morning, waking up tired and I still had all these other things. Flight training, doing flight plans for my flying like three, four hours of flying, coming back and having to run a business, or have to go to work in a corporate job. Then, when I finished my corporate job, come home, run the business, then do my flight plans for the next day, then fly, then do my flight training, then go straight to work. Then, you understand? That’s what I was doing. I never had time for a relationship because I never had the energy available for it because I was feeding my body with rubbish.

If you feed your Lamborghini with … you got the story. If you don’t treat your body like a Lamborghini, it’s going to drive like a fucking Corolla. That is it, period. That’s why I’m big because I know what it’s like to be in hospital, I know what it’s like to be sick all the time because I mistreated my physique. I was the aspiring entrepreneur trying to do fucking everything and it cost me my health, it cost me my relationship. Do not make the same mistake, please. Your fitness is, and your health is the foundation of your enterprise, always, and your relationship and ultimately … your life, your life.

I get it, you might be thinking, “Brad, it’s so hard, it’s so difficult, I’ve been going to the gym for five days a week doing three hours of cardio and I’m not seeing any results.” That’s a strategy thing. You’ve got the mentality there. If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, you’re building an enterprise, and you’re training in the gym, and you’re not getting any results, then you’ve got that mindset already. You’ve made that shift already. You’re already in the element of training. Then, it’s just a matter of working on the strategy, you’ve got the fucking mindset, what’s the strategy that you’re not applying correctly? It could be that you’re making the same mistake that everybody else was making or that I made when I was going through my journey. Which is, you’re not getting enough protein, you’re not restricting your calories, you don’t have a meal plan, you not using [inaudible 00:11:05] diary. All these little pieces are part of the strategy of having a great body.

I’m not going to go into all the strategy component ’cause that’s all other videos on my channel. Subscribe, watch other videos, do my free courses, do whatever it takes. Learn those strategies and then you’ll be able to put that one hour that you are starting your day with, going to the gym, and you’ll be able to make the most of that one hour of training. Rather than doing what everybody else does, going to the gym, doing three hours of cardio, doing one hour of cardio, coming back, eating whatever, eating oats, not counting calories, not managing macros, and wondering why the physique hasn’t changed up to six weeks. It’s frustrating, but it’s strategy. It is strategy that needs to be fixed, that is it. You’re in the gym, you’re in the zone, you’re already halfway there. It’s just a matter of tweaking and fine tuning and getting you the strategies that you need to lose fat, help keep your protein high, train heavy weights, all that shit I talk about in other videos.

I’m gonna wrap this up, that was a massive rant, huge. Oh boy. Okay, once you get your physique in a place where … what I do … I’ll give you context, what I do is I start my day at about 5:00, 5:15, 5:20, 5:30 in the morning every day. Hear me out. Every day. Remember, years ago, five plus years ago, when I was sick, I was in and out of hospital, I, this dude here, me, I point to myself, I would only wake up and 8:00, 9:00 in the morning because I fed my body rubbish, I was a Corolla ’87. I wasn’t starting very well in the morning like a Corolla … no offence if you have a Corolla ’87, no offence at all, this is just a random thing that came in my head. They have a tendency not to start the first time you crank the engine. Whereas, a fucking Lamborghini you just breathe on it and it explodes and it’s ready to race down the streets of Munich. You get it?

That’s what I’m big and passionate about is when you start to feed your body right, by making small changes in what you eat, slowly drop the donuts now Brad, don’t have six donuts, have five. Get that down to four, then get that down to three, and slowly swap foods out. You’re not cutting the lawnmower fuel from your body so to speak, or from the Lamborghini, you’re just slowly switching the fuel sources around so it’s not like you going cold turkey. You’re slowly making these changes. Amazing things happen when you start to feed your body right. You build that foundation of your business and your enterprise, it allows you to put more into your business because you have more energy to do so. Even more than that, you actually get to live a greater quality of life. I know it doesn’t really sound sexy, it doesn’t. That doesn’t sound all, “Brad, I get to live a greater quality of life if I eat healthy and I get to be a better leader and a better manager as a entrepreneur and aspiring,” whatever.

But, please you must treat your body as the vehicle of your life, of your enterprise. If you do not have health and fitness, if you do not prioritise that, whether it be first thing in the morning or 6:00, 7:00 at night. When I train first thing in the morning because it sets my day up. I am just a better person, I’m a much better person. First thing in the morning, I train. Then, what I do is I come back from the gym, I have my post-workout, which is, usually 30-40 grammes of whey protein with a carbohydrate of some type if I’ve done some kind of weight training. I’ll have about 60-70 grammes of carbohydrate, usually Vitargo, V-I-T-A-R-G-O, Vitargo. It doesn’t have to be Vitargo, it can be anything else. Protein post-workout and then about 30-40 minutes later, I will have about 150 grammes of red meat with a tablespoon of coconut oil. When you do that, you’re getting the slow release energy available to you throughout the day as opposed to having carbohydrates first thing in the morning.

By the way, I’m giving you a bit of nutritional information here. This is not mindset stuff I talked bout before. This is what I do, you don’t have to do it this way, but I can assure you, if you try this, you’re probably get benefits from doing it. When you have … I know it sounds weird, if you’re used to having oats and berries in the morning, if you wake up, you do your training session, you have your BCAA’s or whatever you have, your fucking protein or whatever you have in the morning. Then after that, you have 150 grammes or 200 grammes of red meat, could be chicken as well, with one or two tablespoons of coconut oil or 20 grammes of nuts. Then, you have the slow release energy available that will give you consistent energy throughout the day. You won’t have this sugar high, sugar low when you have carbs as breakfast, for example.

I’ve just snuck in a little bit of a strategy that you can apply, a little bit of a nutrition tweak that I have been doing for a while now. It’s fucking amazing, I never used to do it, I’ve noticed a difference. Maybe go and check that out. I’m going to close this up because I’ve ranted a lot. Now, remember please, your fitness and health is the foundation of your life and your enterprise, please, please you must teat your body like Lamborghini otherwise you have no fucking business, period. I know you’re probably not going to hospital now, you’re not sick now, I guarantee that shit will catch up on you, it will fucking come out of nowhere. I swear to God, one day I was in my kitchen chopping vegetables, if my ex-girlfriend was seeing or watching this, she can remember exactly what happened. I was in no pain, I was a normal human being, chopping vegetables in the kitchen, then I was just in severe pain, in my body, I was on the bed and I was raced to the hospital. Then, I had this massive coughing fit which followed, which came out of fucking no where. It was because, ultimately, my immune system was suppressed to the point where I was catching … you could breathe on me and I’d get sick.

That’s why I’m so passionate about this guys, I’m really passionate about it. I know, I’ve been in a dire situation many times by neglecting this part of my life. If you want an enterprise and you want to be a fit entrepreneur and not just an entrepreneur that’s tired all the time, take it from somebody who’s been to fucking hospital many times. Then, now, I’m in a situation where I’ve turned everything around, I’m a fitness model competitor, I still work a corporate job, I fire up at 5:15 in the morning and I swear to fucking God, it’s changed my life. Take it from somebody who’s had that experience.
